This is a quick set to make, and was all done in single crochet.
This fair isle hat is just the right size to keep a baby's head snuggly warm. The hat was knit with a variety of colors of Plymouth Encore DK weight yarn scraps.

This blanket was crocheted using the green-blue varicolored Bernat baby yarn. I made each row long enough so that the color change naturally caused vertical striping.
As baby blankets go, this was pretty fast and very easy. It starts with a ch-3 circle, and increases one stitch on each end every row, with a ch-3 loop to the next row. Once the blanket is half the desired size, decrease one stitch on each end every row with a ch-2 loop to the next row. I finished it with a single-crochet border.
